A floating focus system uses two separate focusing groups to hold image quality all the way through the focus range, driven by a linear motor, with 5-stop image stabilisation to counter the exaggerated shake that shows up at macro distances.
The barrel is sealed against dust and moisture with a fluorine-coated front element, and the lens accepts the XF1.4X TC WR and XF2X TC WR teleconverters for an equivalent reach of roughly 171mm or 244mm when more distance is useful.
