X-Community – Judith Doubell – Travel to Turkey
Travel is something that speaks to my soul. I love seeing new places, conversations with strangers and the opportunity to document my experience.
Being a full time portrait and wedding photographer makes the task to pack for a 2 week trip significantly harder. How do you pack light with camera equipment? It’s simply not something that just happens. I love my Canon gear, I have all the right lenses for all the right shooting circumstances and even when I travel for a wedding it becomes quite a heavy trek. Sometimes to the extent that I would hire an assistant purely to help me carry all my things for the day.
So with this trip to Turkey I decided on a different approach. I’ve been keeping an eye on the new FujiFilm mirrorless cameras for quite some time. I was fascinated by the reviews and spoke to some of my fellow photographers that have the highest praise for these little beasts.
I decided to take the plunge and get a FujiFilm X-T10 and a 35mm lens. And I decided that I will push my creativity traveling with a camera the size of the palm of my hand and an even smaller lens (yet amazingly fast and powerful at F1.4).
So behold, here are some images created in a way I never thought possible. I loved this trip, the people, the country, the food, the music and the most life changing experiences. Here is my travel adventure stories of Istanbul, Göreme and Heybeliada.
