Retang Sebeka

Retang Sebeka is a photographer who takes inspiration from the wonderful world we live in. Having grown up in Soweto, South Africa, he initially believed he was going to be a biomedical scientist, but life had other plans for him. With a keen eye for classical art and a sense of humour he deems as “ridiculous”, Retang conveys his love and passion for the visual medium through his photography and directorial work, most of which is in the advertising space.

After studying, Retang went on to hone his skills. First as a lighting and digital assistant and then moving on to carve his own way as a photographer and director in his own right.

So far, Retang has worked with a number of commercial clients such as BMW South Africa, Nestle, Levi’s for stills, whilst also directing commercials for the likes of Flying Fish, Standard Bank and Handy Andy. He has also exhibited from his ongoing series “Mindscape” as part of a group exhibition at the 2023 “Everything In, Out” project.
