MAWULI ADJABENG – Who am I?
Mawuli Adjabeng is a 28 year old professional Ghanaian documentary photographer birthed on the 16th October, 1990 in Tema to Ghanaian parents.
After his primary education at the Star Basic School – a government school, he continued with his secondary education at the Achimota School in Achimota, Accra. He then had his tertiary education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he majored in Textile Design under the B.A. Industrial Arts Programme.
Mawuli’s interest for photography started in the second year of his study at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He had started to learn graphic design and had found the need to have images taken by him incorporated into his own designs. This got him to an ever learning journey of photography.
With about seven years in photography, Mawuli has undertaken projects such as the IEA Encounters, IEA Presidential Debates, The Rwanda Annual Genocide Remembrance Day, Autism Awareness Conference, Documentary on Autism for Multikids, Visit of Sir Grant Shapps to Varkey Foundation, Tech Needs Girls, Documentary of the Odwira festival just to mention a few.
Mawuli’s motivation in photography is therapeutic. He is of the view that the art of photography engages all the senses. There is a collaborative effort of all the senses which brings about a good sense of fulfillment within hence photography for Mawuli has come to stay. This fulfillment is something that cannot be properly describe unless experienced. This keeps him shooting every time.
Works by Mawuli takes one through a journey on culture, societal issues, children, women, livelihood, abandoned and old architecture, urbanism and travels.
