Neill Soden – Fujifilm XF 16mm f/2.8
I’m usually using the much bigger Fujinon 16mm f/1.4 for my landscapes, so having its smaller and lighter brother, the Fujinon XF 16mm f/2.8to carry around was such a feast.
Since the f/1.4 was so big, on hikes and walks. I tended to opt for one of the smaller lenses that would not offer the same range. Weighing in at 155g, the 16mm f/2.8 is so much easier to carry around, and there was no doubt which lens would accompany us on walks from now on.
On top of the size and weight benefits, it looks great on my X-Pro2, with a beautifully curved, tiny lens hood.
With landscapes, I didn’t miss the f/1.4 for depth of field, although I did feel the low light limitations once hitting the f/2.8.The focus was fast and quiet, which I am sure will make video users very happy, and it hits the mark quite easily.
Even though it’s coming in at a much lower price, the 16mm f/2.8 is still a high quality product, with the added benefit of being weather sealed.
Once again, I can’t stress enough how light and small the Fujinon XF 16mm f/2.8 is. It’s a wonderful addition to the Fujifilm range and a great option if you are not in need of an aperture of f/1.4 and the low light benefits this offers.
