In celebration of ten years of the X Mount system, we are featuring avid Fujifilm users in South Africa’s top 10 shots. Hailing from Centurion, Matimba Chauke (Clean Media Photography) quit his job as a property sales manager to become a professional photographer and haven’t looked back since.
Why do you love photography?
Photography is a beautiful experience. Not only do I have the opportunity to provide a memorable experience, but we also get to connect with people in a fun way. I love photography because of the exciting moments, it’s the perfect way to preserve one’s important milestones. Life is filled with great moments such as birthdays, weddings, graduations, anniversaries, and family vacations. These are the moments when people need a photographic service the most.
Tell us a bit more about your photography and what you would like to achieve through this.
I left my full-time job as property sales manager to work for myself as a professional photographer, and I love it. I mostly do maternity shoots, birthday shoots, celebrities, weddings and also portraits. What I would love to achieve in this is to run my educational channel on YouTube about photography, because where I come from people need better knowledge and understanding of photography. And I would love to be a Fujifilm brand ambassador because honestly, I don’t see myself using any other camera.
Which Fujifilm camera do you use?
I’m using two Fujifilm cameras: the X-T4 and the X-S10. I hope to own the next flagship in the X-T series when it comes out because I know it’s going to be amazing.
What made you switch to Fujifilm and when did this happen?
Size and weight, and the fact that the camera is easy to use. This camera seems to be efficient, most importantly the colour profiles are perfect and low-light performance is amazing. I moved to Fujifilm in November 2021 and I love it.
What do you love most about the camera?
I love everything about the camera but mostly the colour profiles are just amazing – I don’t need to edit all my shots, it makes my job very easy.
