TAKE TEN: PICTURE ME&U

Werner and Mariaan are a husband-and-wife team, running PICTURE ME&U, a company specialising in couple, elopement and wedding photography and films. As part of the ten-year anniversary of the Fujifilm X Mount, we’re featuring local Fujifilm shooters such as them, asking for their ten favourite shots.

Why do you love photography/videography?

We want our professional and personal photography and videography work to serve as a subtle reminder of life. For PICTURE ME&U, we feel we have a responsibility to tell our clients’ stories with care. We love when people love more and love fully, and always embrace our photojournalistic and cinematic style of work. We’re grateful for the opportunities our work has presented to shoot in some of the most amazing sunsets and sunrises all over the world.

Tell us a bit more about your photography/videography and what you would like to achieve through this.

For us, when it comes to documenting people it’s more about how things feel and letting things happen naturally. We want the time we spent with all our clients to be an abundant experience of emotions and THAT’s what we want to capture – raw and real stories that are unscripted.

Both of us, we believe, were not made to sit behind a desk permanently. We’re meant to meet new people, travel and create. Living a creative and authentic life is something that’s extremely important to us and we hope that in this way we can inspire fellow creatives to also follow their passions and do the work that their hearts are calling them to do.

What made you switch to Fujifilm and when did this happen?

Over the last few years, Fujifilm launched a lot of new technology and improvements on their products compared to other brands. Their new innovations were very appealing to us and made the decision really easy. Not to mention their small form factor, which was a BIG positive for us especially when it comes to travelling with professional gear.

Which Fujifilm cameras do you use and what do you love most about the camera?

Our two main favourite Fujifilm cameras:

The Fujifilm X100V, because it’s small and compact with great quality imagery.

We love how the X100V forces us to think creatively with its small body and the fixed lens, since you can’t just grab another lens to get the perfect shot. Werner is a BIG fan of street photography, especially night-time so we love using this one for personal and travel photography.

The Fujifilm X-T4. For obvious reasons it’s our main shooter because you can do so much with it! It also has great video capabilities; the product literally speaks for itself.
