TAKE TEN: Jeff Siepman

We’ve been having an excellent time celebrating ten years of X Mount by featuring the top ten photos of Fujifilm users across the country. Joburg-based Jeff Siepman combines his love of photography with a love of cars to come up with some amazing imagery.

Why do you love photography?

I love photography because it allows me the freedom to capture the world from my perspective, while still conveying the things that are important to me without the need for words – an outlet for self-expression and the freedom to create.

It’s an incredible feeling to be able to publish a photograph to the internet and have it remind a complete stranger of their own memory or motivate them to want to experience something or travel somewhere.

What made you switch to Fujifilm and when did this happen?

I was going to make the jump to another brand but near the end of 2018, I managed to get my hands on the X-H1 and X-T3 to mess around with. I couldn’t believe how intuitive and easy to use they were. I also instantly fell in love with the colours you get straight out of a Fujifilm camera so I made the switch to the brand at the beginning of 2019 and I haven’t looked back.

Which Fujifilm camera do you use?

I currently use the Fujifilm X-H1. It accompanies me nearly everywhere I go and is probably the most versatile camera I have owned.

What do you love most about the camera?
What is there not to love about the X-H1? It is Impressively well designed and built, but if I had to pick a couple of things other than the obvious I’d say I love the shutter sound, I love the viewfinder, the control layout is near perfect and the IBIS is fantastic.

Tell us a bit more about your photography and what you would like to achieve through this.

I’m still learning and finding my style so I haven’t really thought about what I want to achieve through photography yet. At this point, it’s really just something that makes me happy
